Purpose of funding
- Through START-UP GRANTS financial line the Slovene Enterprise Fund promotes the creation and development of start-up companies that are less than 14 months old with grants.
- These are early stage companies, which, according to the market gap analysis, are the most sensitive and vulnerable group of companies on the market, and without the right forms of financing, the existence of such companies on the market is severely
threatened. - In addition to start-ups, the funding is also aimed at the development of the supported enterprises and the successful transfer of development ideas from entrepreneurial individuals and groups into commercially viable ventures, as well as the creation of new
enterprises with growth potential, focusing on the development and commercialisation of products, processes, and service.
The following groups of enterprises are eligible for grants:
Description of financing
Companies receive the start-up grant directly from SEF.
Easy and Fast Procedure for Obtaining a Start-up Incentive
1
Publication of the call for tenders
The calls for tender for start-ups are published on the Slovene Enterprise Fund (SEF) website and in The Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia. A company wishing to apply for the start-up incentive via the SEF is informed of the application requirements in the published call for tenders, which is available on the SEFs website.
2
Start-up training
Certain calls for start-up funding also involve a set of practical training exercises to help companies test the quality of their innovative business idea and model and, if necessary, build on it.
3
Easy and quick submission of the online application
After successfully completing the application form, it has to be submitted via the ePortal. Applicants search for the relevant call reference for the call of tender they wish to apply for and fill in the application form as instructed.
4
Application processing and decree issuance
The SEF reviews the application. In the event of an incompletely submitted application, the SEF will urge the applicant to complete it. The complete applications, which also comply with all of the requirements set out in the call for tenders, will be approved and funded within the limits of the available funds. The SEF informs the company of its decision to grant the incentive in the form of a decision.
5
Signing agreement with the SEF
If the application is approved, the SEF and the company enter into a co-financing agreement. The contract signing is carried out by means of a qualified digital certificate for business entities. At the time of signing the contract, the company must have at least one full-time employee.
6
Signing the contract with the mentor
Start-ups work with a mentor to further develop their business idea. They can choose a mentor from the available list of mentors on the SEFs website.
7
Reporting results
Start-ups report on the activities carried out to the SEF over a period of three years.
