Free training on voluntary sustainability reporting

As part of the ESG Acceleration project, specialized free training courses are being organized throughout Slovenia, primarily aimed at micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that want to understand the importance of voluntary sustainability reporting, learn about current legislative requirements, and establish systems for collecting the necessary data. This is a measure of the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy (MOPE) and the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport (MGTŠ), which the Slovenian Entrepreneurship Fund (SPS) implements through the GZS with partners, from the Climate Fund within the measure »Sustainability Reporting of SMEs«.

Why is voluntary sustainability reporting important for SMEs?

Although SMEs are not directly obliged to sustainability reporting in most cases, they encounter the requirements indirectly – through supply chains, partners, banks and investors.

Voluntary sustainability reporting brings many benefits to companies:

• easier access to financial resources, as banks and investors increasingly take into account the sustainability aspects of business,
• competitive advantage with larger customers who require ESG standards from their suppliers,
• savings by introducing ESG practices, for example, with energy efficiency,
• strengthening the company’s reputation and trust among employees, customers and the wider community.

Training process

The training takes place in a combination of online and physical implementations in various locations in all statistical regions in Slovenia. The program includes four modules that guide companies step by step from understanding the importance of sustainability to preparing a concrete sustainability report and action plan. Get the ESG Acceleration certificate

You can send different employees to individual modules. Each participant receives a certificate of participation for the module they have successfully completed. If they successfully attend all 4 modules, they receive the ESG Acceleration certificate.A module is successfully completed if the participant completes the quiz with 80 percent correct answers, the quiz can be repeated 5 times.

In October, we invite you to the first online free training within Module 1 – Basics and benefits of sustainability reporting. At the training, we will present the understanding of sustainability, sustainable financing, presentation of sustainability reporting standards, preparation of the report and self-assessment of sustainable orientation.
