Development partnerships for enhancing innovative orientation and sustainability
Development partnerships are crucial for promoting economic development and technological advancement
About SEF’s development partnerships
Today’s business environments are extremely complex, making it essential to develop specialized support programs for the successful development of innovative and sustainable SMEs (micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises), start-ups, and scale-ups. These programs can focus on specific industries (vertical accelerators) or cross national borders (cross-border accelerators).
Accelerators are designed according to the needs of companies – either in terms of specific development areas or in terms of geographical focus, resulting in so-called partnerships for sustainable development/vertical or cross-border accelerators.

Partnerships play a key role in promoting innovation and sustainability of SMEs, start-up and scale-up companies
These partnerships play a key role in promoting innovation and sustainable growth of SMEs, start-up and scale-up companies, as they enable:
- faster development of companies,
- easier adaptation to market changes,
- contribution to sustainable economic development.
Partnerships for sustainable development are created in eight key development areas:
- Go Digital (digital and data economy, digital infrastructures, etc.)
- Smart infrastructure (smart cities and smart communities, smart buildings and home with wood chain)
- Networks for the transition to a circular economy (energy, secondary raw materials, water, green processes, etc.)
- Sustainable food and tourism
- Health and medicine
- Mobility
- Advanced materials as end products
- Factories of the future
These areas are further connected with four horizontal sustainability aspects:
Within the framework of partnerships, companies connect with various institutions: with universities, research centers, laboratories and other organizations that offer support. First, networking is established at the national level, and then the networks are expanded to the international or global level.
