Purpose of the call

The purpose of the product is to encourage the startup of companies based in border problem areas. The support is intended to realize developmental potential and improve business operations. This reduces the risk of business mortality in the initial stages of operation and improves competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets. At the same time, the product contributes to:

  • reducing the development gap in border problem areas;
  • creating new jobs;
  • promoting the start-up of companies.

Subject of the product

The subject of the product is co-financing:

  • start-up of companies;
  • preparation and launch of products/services on the market;
  • investment in development;
  • new jobs;
  • commercialisation of the final product/services;
  • start of regular business with the creation of income.

  • EUR 30,000 non-refundable funds in the form of a lump sum, which the company receives for a successfully completed development phase for milestones achieved by 30. 10. 2026

  • Micro and small enterprises headquartered in a border problem area that were registered from January 1, 2025, to February 18, 2026
  • Organised as sole proprietorships, general partnerships, cooperatives and social enterprises so.p.

Conditions for application

  • The applicant must meet specific conditions regarding the registered office, the location of the project and the age of the company
  • Closed financial structure and liquidity demonstrated in the application until 2029
  • Profitable operations no later than 2026 onwards
  • The products and services offered must be market-oriented
  • At least 1 employee for full-time employment upon signing the co-financing agreement
  • The company must not be in difficulty
  • The company does not belong to an excluded sector
  • »de minimis aid«

Eligible costs and financing dynamics

  • All eligible costs or part of eligible costs are reimbursed on the basis of a pre-determined lump sum (EUR 30,000).
  • The lump sum covers the total project costs related to the company’s operations for 8 months and covers the start-up phase of the company with the implementation of investments, the realisation of employment, the start of commercialisation of products/services, promotion, the acquisition of partners/customers and the start of generating regular monthly income.
  • The lump sum is paid based on fully achieved development phase milestones and based on a positive business assessment by the SEF.

Period of incurrence of eligible costs

The lump sum covers the costs of implementing activities over a period of 8 months or from the submission of the application until October 30, 2026.

Tender deadlines and method of submitting the application

  • The application is submitted electronically via the ePortal of the Fund.
  • The deadline for submitting applications is March 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
